Call Timer

To keep track of elapsed time during a phone call, use the Call Timer window. The Call Timer window is one of the three utility windows that you can summon from the main window.

To summon the Call Timer window, click the “clock” button in the main window. Or, if the main window is not open, choose Show Main Window > Show Call Timer from the main menu.

The Call Timer is used to indicate the duration of the current call. This is helpful for a number of reasons including to keep track of the time you’ve devoted to a call for billing purposes. You can manually start & stop the timer using any of the following methods:

You may also automatically start the Call Timer whenever you dial by enabling this option in the Call Timer window.

1 Alert Frequency. Specify the time here (in minutes & seconds) between alerts when the Call Timer is active.

2 Beep on Alert. Enable this to have Dialectic beep when displaying the Call Timer alert.

3 Auto Start on Dial. You can choose to have the Call Timer automatically start whenever a call is placed through Dialectic by enabling this option. If this is not enabled, you can still start the Call Timer using any of the methods listed above.

4 Reset Timer on Start. With this option enabled, the Call Timer will start at 0:00 for each call so the elapsed time is only for the current call. If you want to track the total time you spend on all calls (helpful when working on a particular project), disable this option and the elapsed time will be the cumulative time for every call for which you’ve used the Call Timer.

5 Start/Stop Timer. Use this button to toggle the Call Timer on and off (you can also start & stop the Call Timer using the methods delineated above).

6 Elapsed Time. The time elapsed during the Call Timer (if Reset Timer on Start is enabled, this is the duration for all calls tracked with the Call Timer; if disabled, it is the time of the current Call Timer).
