Bluetooth Phone Dial Method - Alternate

If the Standard method doesn’t work for your phone, try switching to the Alternate pane of Dialectic’s Bluetooth configuration pane. This may allow you to communicate with the phone as if it were a modem device.

To help configure Dialectic for dialing with the Bluetooth Phone Dial Method, we offer free scripts on the Resources page (see the “General Dialing Configuration” section):

You can also access these scripts from within Dialectic itself by selecting the “Configuration Utilities…” menu item from the Main Menu.

2 Bluetooth Phone Dial Method Configurations. Configurations allow you to customize the Bluetooth Phone Dial Method using different phones for different types of calls or locales.

3 Standard/Alternate. The type of connection to use for this phone. For most devices, the Standard connection method should be fine. If your phone does not work using this method, you can use the Alternate method which may allow you to use your phone with Dialectic.

4 Modem. The serial port to use for communicating with your phone. If you don’t see a port for the DUN service on your phone, try using the generic “Bluetooth-Modem” driver.

5 Init String. An init string to ready the phone for dialing. There are several standard init strings available for you to use but you can enter any init string or even leave it blank — whatever works best for your phone.

6 Use Alternate Bluetooth Dial Command. When dialing, Dialectic will alert the phone using the standard “AT” command. Some phones, however, use the alternate “AT+CDV” command to initiate a voice call. Check with your phone’s documentation for the appropriate command to use with your phone.
