Dialing through Vonage

If you have telephone service through Vonage, JPT can use that service to dial the phone.

Dial Method Vonage

JPT communicates to your Vonage phone through a secure internet-based service provided by Vonage called Click-2-Call. First, you must enter all of the required information about your Vonage account including your username, password, and Vonage phone number (note, this is your phone number, not the number you are dialing and it must be prefixed by “1”). This information is only transmitted to Click-2-Call (a service provided by Vonage) and not submitted anywhere else. This information is transmitted through a secure post, it is not submitted through a URL so, while no transmission of sensitive data is 100% secure, this is a fairly safe method of transmitting your information.

Once you have entered your information, when JPT attempts to dial a number via Vonage, it will be submitted to the Click-2-Call service and your Vonage phone will ring. When you answer, the Vonage system will then attempt to connect to the number you have dialed from JPT. As with all calls placed through JPT, all standard Vonage tolls still apply. Note: This method requires an active internet connection.

As with other internet connections, your system may require the connection to the Click-2-Call site to be routed through a proxy server (the Click-2-Call site requires a secure — HTTPS — connection). If you need to use a proxy server, JPT will read the proxy information from your Network preferences. However, if a username and password is required for your setup, you will need to enter it in JPT each time you launch the application. You can do this by clicking the “Proxy Settings...” button. For more information, see the “Proxies” help section.
