Make MP3 Audio Book (view script source code)
Version: 1.0.3
Release Date: March 31, 2004
Requirements: Mac OS X 10.3+ & iTunes 4.0.1+
Script Type: Editable
License: Freeware (GPL)
Installation: Download, expand, and place in your Applications folder or in the Scripts folder for easy access via the Script Menu.
Description: Drag and drop a text file (or a folder full of text files), enter some metadata for your audio book, and this script will convert the text file to an AIFF file using the Mac OS’s built-in Text-to-Speech technology. Then, the script will use iTunes to convert the AIFF file to an MP3 with the metadata encoded as ID3 tags.
NOTE: Version 1.0 had a nasty bug that would delete all the tracks in your iTunes Library (although not the files themselves on your system). This has been fixed in the new version of the script and you should not use any previous version. I am truly sorry if this caused any inconvenience.
